PCI Reading Program - Level One
The S-DMS allows for the description of an individual child’s basic math skills, comparing the child’s performance to their age/grade peers, and helps to identify students who are at risk for mathematics failure.
Level One teaches 140 basic sight words from the Dolch and Fry lists and “real-world” words through a comprehensive system of repetition, “hands-on” practice, controlled-vocabulary reading, and high-interest activities.
Levels One and Two teach 280 sight words and “real-world” nouns and verbs through a comprehensive system of repetition, “hands-on” practice, controlled-vocabulary reading, and high-interest activities.
Level Three is designed to move students toward
reading independence by using the words taught in
Levels One and Two as exemplars for teaching
23 onsets and 20 word families.
